Lakeside Wedding with Latin Flair

The weather was perfect for Yordania and Stefan’s July wedding on the lake in Stoney Creek. The outdoor ceremony had a destination wedding feel to it as guests watched boats sail by trying to sneak a peek at the bride and groom.

The reception took place on the grounds at Liuna gardens – the bride, Yordania, injected some latino fire from her cuban roots with a red and white colour scheme that included red roses and swagging throughout. The centrepieces, handmade and designed by Yordania were a great hit with the guests. Several invitees commented on the wedding cake – a departure from the traditional white layers and completely in keeping with the wedding theme.

The couple included a candy buffet for their guests in addition to “green” favours – tiny pine trees from http://www.evergreenmemories.ca that guests can plant in their yards and enjoy for years to come.

A movie themed wedding

Sarah and Anson’s wedding was a beautiful blend of old Hollywood glamour and classic simplicity. The black and white colour scheme along with the elegant ambiance at Lionhead Golf club in Brampton made it a great night for both the bridal couple and their guests.

The church, one of the oldest standing buildings in the North Mississauga area was reminiscent of a church rom the Islands of yesteryear

Other touches that highlighted the theme were popcorn holders filled with “movie night” tea as a wedding favour and a seating chart created from a director’s board. The place cards were Lindt chocolate bars fashioned into movie tickets – A great hit with everyone!

During the cocktail hour guests helped themselves to popcorn from the traditional cart while Casablanca played in the background. Entertainment for the night was provided by the Groom’s own band.

A Superhero Themed Wedding!

McBride Weddings had a great day working at Stacey & Andre’s wedding at Carmen’s in Hamilton. They chose an amazing superhero themed wedding!

From the Green Lantern martini luge featuring signature superhero drinks to the  Groom’s cake – every detail was perfect. Guests from other weddings at the venue were constantly coming over to see what all the buzz was about!

Even the bar staff got involved!

Mixing in with the superhero theme was an elegant Tiffany colour scheme that included a Tiffany box wedding cake and favours.

Wedding with a latin flavour!

This past weekend, McBride Weddings had the pleasure of coordinating the nuptials of Sam & Maria. The wedding had a very distinctive latin flavour, both bride and groom have El Salvadorean roots which were certainly evident during their first dance – an amazing salsa!

The decor at Carmen’s, the banquet hall in Hamilton, was elegant and glamourous – royal blue with touches of white and black damask. The centrepieces definitely stole the show.

Guests at the wedding were spoiled with two different wedding favours – shotglasses and the cutest bride and groom cookies!

And a candy bar!

As the 2012 wedding season gets under way, here is a look some of the emerging trends we are seeing for summer 2012:

1. A return to vintage glamour  – old Hollywood style is seen in decor, dresses and stationary.

2) Eco weddings  – More and more brides are looking to reduce the carbon footprint of their wedding through the use of natural materials such as silk, reducing the need for artificial light by holding daytime and outdoor events and menus featuring locally produced food.

3) Personalized Weddings – Today’s couples are moving away from the cookie cutter “one size fits all” wedding formula. Family photos used as decor, table’s names after places or dates important to the bride and groom – there are many ways to make your wedding unique to you.
